What it is
Design and installation of fitted wardrobes, walk-in dressing rooms, and full-wall storage — including internal fit-out (hanging, drawers, shoe racks, LED lighting), painted or hardwood finishes, and cornice and pelmet detailing.
Who it's for
Homeowners in Hertfordshire tired of freestanding wardrobes that never really fit the room, or of flat-pack fitted systems that don't hold up to daily use. Especially valuable in older houses where every alcove is a different size.
When you need it

Materials and finishes
MR-MDF carcasses and shaker doors for painted work (the most durable finish in a bedroom), tulipwood and poplar for hand-painted premium doors, oak and walnut veneers for hardwood finishes, birch ply for lightweight cabin-style interiors, and solid brass or bronze ironmongery from specifiers including Armac Martin and From The Anvil.
Internal fit-out options
Full-height hanging, double hanging for shirts and jackets, soft-close drawers in melamine or oak, pull-out shoe racks, pull-out trouser rails, tie and belt hooks, LED strip lighting on movement sensors, jewellery drawers with velvet inserts, and integrated laundry hampers.
Fitted vs freestanding wardrobes — the honest comparison
Freestanding wardrobes are cheaper to buy and easy to move house with. Fitted wardrobes cost more, add to your home's value, use every inch of the room, and last two to three times as long. If you're staying in the house five years or more, fitted almost always wins on cost per year of use.

- How much do fitted wardrobes cost in Hertfordshire?

- How long from order to installation?
- Typically 4–8 weeks from signed quotation to fitting — most of that time is workshop build. Install itself is usually 3–7 days on site.
- Can you match the wardrobes to my existing skirting and coving?
- Yes. This is the single biggest reason people choose fitted over freestanding — we scribe to your existing profiles and paint on site so the finish reads as one continuous piece of joinery.
- Do you offer soft-close doors and drawers?
- Yes, as standard. Blum or equivalent soft-close hardware is included on every fitted wardrobe unless you specifically ask for something different.
- Can you include internal lighting?
- Yes — LED strip on the underside of shelves and on movement sensors is a common inclusion. We coordinate the electrical work as part of the job.
- Do you build walk-in dressing rooms?
- Yes. Full walk-in dressing rooms are one of our favourite jobs — island units, floor-to-ceiling shoe storage, jewellery drawers, integrated lighting and mirrors.
- Do you cover the whole of Hertfordshire for fitted wardrobes?
- Yes. Barnett's Bespoke works throughout Hertfordshire, into north London and southern Bedfordshire — including Buntingford, Bishop's Stortford, Stevenage, Hertford, Ware and Hitchin. We're based at Great Hormead Hall, Buntingford, and travel from there.

- How quickly can you start?
- Larger projects are usually booked four to eight weeks ahead. Small joinery jobs and single-day repairs can often be scheduled sooner. Contact us with a rough scope and postcode and we'll come back with a realistic start window.
